Activities

Can I ride a 4-wheeler, ATV, dirt bike, or bring my RC car to Big Marsh?
No. No motorized vehicles are allowed on our trails, sorry.

Can I bring my dog to Big Marsh?
No. Service animals are the only domestic animals allowed at Big Marsh due to a focus on recreating a home for migratory birds.

Transit

How do I get to Big Marsh from downtown on CTA?
The easiest way to get to Big Marsh from the center of the city is the J14 Jeffery Jump bus. The J14 runs from Michigan Avenue, South on Lake Shore Drive, and exits at Jeffery and 67th. The last stop is at 103rd and Doty Road. The J14 has a rack for 2 bikes on the front of it, so the ride from 103rd to Big Marsh should be a breeze.

Can schoolbusses park at Big Marsh?
Yes! Please contact us to schedule a field trip!

Where should I eat/what can I do while I’m in the neighborhood?

What do Friends of Big Marsh do with the money?
Please, check out our 2019 annual report and our guidestar profile. In 2019, 91% of all of our spending was for community programming or park infrastructure. We plan to continue this trend and will be building more bike features with all donations, while building our bike programs for young people in South Deering, East Side, Hegewisch, Riverdale, and Pullman.

Can I volunteer?
Absolutely! Please check on our volunteer page for upcoming events and reach out if you have an idea!
