In early September, “Friends…” director Paul Fitzgerald spoke with Maryam Bledsoe and Kelly Escarcega of the Student Conservation Association’s “Women’s Crew” about the work that they’ve been doing at Big Marsh and beyond. The program that Ms. Bledsoe and Ms. Escarcega participate in is incredibly unique in the traditionally male-dominated fields of parks, rec, and conservation; it is a step towards equity in sustainability.
We at Friends of Big Marsh are incredibly thankful to the SCA staff. Their example pushes us closer to where we need to be, in an inclusive world, working to heal the planet.
