Birds, Bikes, and Beats is back again! This year, Friends of Big Marsh and the Chicago Park District have worked to spread out a series of excellent family friendly, and free, events for the whole family to enjoy and celebrate some of our favorite things about Big Marsh Park!
Saturday, Sept 23rd
10am-2pm
Biodiversity Festival with the Field Museum, Geographic Society of Chicago, and The Wetlands Initiative !
Meet with scientists and discover the many species of plants, animals, and birds that call Big Marsh home!
Biodiversity Festival is a perfect opportunity for families, scout groups, science clubs and community groups to learn more about the southeast side’s rich natural and cultural history.
2pm-4pm
Friends of Big Marsh Double Feature with Patagonia!
Big Marsh Bike Park: Big hill, Big Future
Monte Cosby: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
Enjoy a multi-media presentation on the next phase of bike park development followed by a screening of Patagonia Films’ short documentary “Monte: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop”. There will be a free bike tour of the park *with Monte!* following the screening.
This will be a great opportunity for bike park fans to engage with local organizations using sports for youth development and engagement, as well as those who cannot wait to see what the future holds for the big hill.

The Nature Trail Cafe will be open
Drop-in clinics and workshops for skateboarding, BMX, and Mountain Biking with Natty Bwoy, Go Grind!, and Bike Coach Rob.
Bring your bikes +skateboards or rent a bike at the outfitter. Classes are free!
