Friends of Big Marsh, a 501c3 non-profit organization which supports the work of the Chicago Park District at Big Marsh Park through bike park development, fundraising, and community engagement, is hosting a fundraising party for Trails & Connections at Specialized Bicycles- Fulton Market on November 10th, 2022 from 6-10pm.
Big Marsh Park is one of the city’s largest, and most exciting, new parks. With nearly 300-acres of restored landscape and 50-acres of single track, pump tracks, and BMX jumps in the bike park, the park contains eco-recreation opportunities for the whole community. In the last twelve months, the Ford Calumet Environmental Center, the bike rental, and nearly 4 miles worth of multi-use and single track bike paths have been added to existing park amenities. Friends of Big Marsh looks forward to continuing our 4-year old teen apprenticeship through After School Matters, creating new opportunities for new riders to be introduced to different cycling disciplines, and building new, inspiring trails throughout the park. We have truly enjoyed developing engaging programs with partners like Chicago Adventure Therapy, Outdoor Afro, Adventures Unlimited, and Half Acre Cycling to use the bike park as a means to reach neighbors who have been unexposed to eco-recreation. Additionally, “Friends…” has partnered with Active Transportation Alliance and other local leadership to expand the regional connections for cyclists and pedestrians.
The Trails & Connections fundraising party will be a place for supporters to reconnect with the organization, celebrate the amazing growth of the park, and share our vision for the future. We are calling on past supporters to renew their commitment, and for local leadership to support the further development of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure on the city’s Southeast and Far South Sides.
There will be live entertainment, food, drinks, and a silent auction.
Sponsors will be recognized and are invited to contribute cash or in-kind donations towards the silent auction.
